As a prime subcontractor, TMG provided fast-track design-build construction services to renovate the ground floor of the Postal Square Building near busy Union Station Metro. The ground floor in the building, a former printing plant, underwent total demolition followed by a complete renovation, transforming the space into a fully a functional office building for more than 70 government employees. The scope for ground floor build-out at Postal Square included the complete design and construction of all trades, including architectural, MEP, structural, fire protection and life safety, voice/data, furniture, and furnishings while complying with international building codes and GSA Facilities Standards for Public Building Service P100. The contract included a delivery date of 200 days from Notice to Proceed, which required design and construction to occur concurrently. Despite challenges that included working in an occupied building in downtown DC, an aggressive fast-track schedule, and unforeseen conditions in the field, the project was completed on time and under budget.

Description
