TMG Construction renovated the cafeterias and kitchens at Sterling Middle School and Blue Ridge Middle School. The project included comprehensive upgrades to food service equipment, finishes, and utilities. The scope of work featured demolition of a media room and dividing partition, installation of new flooring (VCT in the cafeteria and epoxy in the serving line), new wall tile in the serving line, new countertops in the cafeteria, new ceiling throughout, tectum acoustical wall panels in the cafeteria, new cafeteria entrance doors, and painting of walls, columns, and existing wall tile. The existing doors to the serving line were replaced with overhead coiling doors, which required shoring for installation. Windows were added to Blue Ridge Middle School to enhance natural light.
Kitchen equipment upgrades included removal of existing equipment and installation of new items such as an ice cream cabinet, pizza oven, pass-thru refrigerator, hot food holding cabinet, custom mobile and combination hot food counter, cold well/frost top, display merchandiser, chip rack/flatwater counter, and custom cashier counter. Plumbing work involved new floor sinks, kitchen sinks, and water fountains with mechanical improvements of new duct line installation, MAU rebalance, and new exhaust fans. Electrical work consisted of new conduit runs under the slab, connections to kitchen equipment, and new light fixtures.
