Washington Dulles International Airport
TMG provided construction services at a separate terminal located at Washington Dulles International Airport that is dedicated to serving private and military planes that fly into the airport. The project involved exterior and interior renovations of the 10,000 SF main passenger terminal to upgrade the facility to the new standards set by the client.
The renovation also included the creation of a regional Embraer Service Center, focusing on the new Phenom line of aircraft. The spacious interior features 40 foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass lobby, expanded seating areas, quiet rooms, and three executive conference rooms with broadband wireless connectivity, as well as large-screen TV monitors and Apple TV throughout the facility. The space also includes well-equipped flight planning room and crew lounge to provide a relaxing atmosphere for flight crews between flights. The terminal also has on site Customs clearing for international flights.
Specifics of the renovation included the construction of a new 1,800 SF canopy for passenger pick-up and drop-off, providing additional limousine parking space, painting existing portions of the building exterior and hangar interior, providing new landscaping, and demolition/installation of a new sidewalk in front of the building. Interior construction included demolition of an existing lobby stairwell, installation of new carpet in the seating areas, installation of a new passenger elevator, demolition and build-out of bathrooms and pilot’s lounge area, installation of carpet and painting the second floor operations offices, as well as demolition/build-out of the existing kitchen and ground support office.
Associated work included substantial MEP systems upgrades. Subsequent work will include interior upgrades to more than 8,000 SF of office space located within the terminal hangar.
