Child Development Center Infrastructure and Paving
Fort Belvoir, VA
IDIQ Task Order Contract
TMG, as part of our joint venture AKHI Construction, designed and built the infrastructure for a new 124-person Child Development Center. Associated work included the construction, paving, and striping of a 2,000 LF feeder road, as well as the installation of static decorative security fencing and light poles along the feeder road.
The team drilled 14 borings in various locations to check for contaminated soil, dug a 100 CY stormwater containment pond, and installed utilities, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water, power, and all the feeds to the site to support the three-acre facility. The team then installed the asphalt access road and security fencing, followed by the construction of the site pad site for the building, which involved excavating three feet down, placing 27,000 CY of engineered fill, compacting the fill, and testing each lift. Stormwater management features included reinforced concrete pipe, manholes, wall sections, and rip rap along the pond.
The project management team devised a meticulously planned staggered schedule to allow the timely ingress and egress of trucks and materials from the secure site. The team also provided project-specific safety, quality control, and environmental plans for this project.
