As part of our Joint Venture Firm AKHI Construction, LLC, TMG constructed the new South Loop Road Bridge over wetland SL-4. Preconstruction work included clearing and site preparation and installing timber matting over the wetland area. The team managed environmental testing via 2-inch test cores in solid rock up to 50 feet deep as well as contaminated soil/water handling and proper disposal. Environmental testing was performed in 40 sites where the bridge caisson holes were drilled – a safety measure to protect project personnel. The next phase involved drilling and pouring of 40 caissons followed by the installation of precast concrete columns to support the bridge decking. Associated work included grading, paving and pavement striping. In addition to hazardous materials handling, the project crew complied with USACE procedures for protecting endangered wildlife in the area.
