The Taxiway Sierra Project, located on Joint Base Andrews Air Force Base in Prince Georges County Maryland, removed an existing 1,700 LF 70′ wide Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) taxiway and replaced it with a new 85′ wide taxiway with a 16″ PCC pavement section and related work.

The replacement project was divided into five phases: 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, and 1E. The phases were performed in alphabetical order and each individual section was completed prior to starting the next section. The scope for each section included demolishing the existing taxiway, excavating to subgrade, installing the subdrain system, installing the sub base stone, installing open graded base layer, installing light cans and conduit, installing the PCC, core drilling to expose the light cans, installing wire and lights and finally testing the lights.
