TMG performed an all-trade build-out of a new secure command center in an occupied, mission-critical campus environment.

Under a multiple award task order contract, TMG performed the adaptive reuse and renovation of a two-story existing building located on a high-security campus housing high-level government officials. The project involved the construction of a new, secure command center (SCIF construction) on the second floor. The command center scope included demolition; mechanical/plumbing systems; an electrical distribution system; fire alarm and fire suppression systems installations; security system installation; design and installation of an integrated AV System (knowledge wall); flooring, raised access flooring, and millwork installations; custom built-in furniture and window shade installations; drywall, acoustical, and painting. The first floor involved the construction of a new SCIF in an existing data center. The SCIFs were built in conjunction with the client’s security guidelines along with DHS SCIF regulations. To accommodate the new LAN room and new data racks, two new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units were also installed.

Exterior construction included the construction of two canopies, which were composed of structural steel framing covered in steel decking. The roof was composed of Kynar 500 Architectural Standing Seam. Canopy construction included concrete foundations and round piers.

Other exterior scope involved fuel tank rework; concrete sidewalk and stairs; electrical duct-bank tying into the facility electrical service; a new asphalt parking lot; and the construction of a decorative canopy and walkway for the main entrance of the building, in addition to the construction of a new pavilion.

One of the major challenges for the site was the continuing effort of obtaining site access for all personnel involved with the project. Every person desiring access had a NCIC background check. In order to prevent project delays, TMG’s Facility Security Officer was able to obtain the specific paperwork from all project-critical personnel in a timely fashion for fast-track clearances for those personnel.
