TMG served as the general contractor for the comprehensive modernization of the Long Beach Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) under the FAA’s Large Nationwide Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) contract.
Key project highlights included a complete replacement of the mechanical system with new chillers, seven air handling units, mechanical piping, ductwork, VAVs, and advanced mechanical controls to ensure optimal climate control and energy efficiency. Abatement of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and lead paint was completed, followed by demolition and replacement of existing mechanical and controls systems.
A few interior improvements included new ACT ceilings, flooring, painting, bathroom fixtures and accessories, lockers, millwork, and entry storefronts, along with new handrails and stair treads installed in the ATCT with new finishes added in the Cab. Exterior work included new lightning protection and grounding systems, reglazing and resealing of cab glass, facade cleaning and resealing, roof replacement on the base building and link, and parking lot milling and overlay with subgrade improvements.
