DCA AOA New Lights vs. Old Lights

TMG is currently completing a $5.2 million campus utility distribution and central plant improvements project for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

As part of this project, TMG is currently upgrading the lighting systems throughout the entire airport. This photo shows the huge difference between the old and new lighting in the Airport Operations Area (the portion of the airport used for landing, take-off or surface maneuvering of aircraft). The challenge of these lighting retrofits is coordinating schedules with MWAA operations and the airlines’ flights. TMG’s Superintendent, Harry Self, pre-plans his work, provides detailed three week look ahead schedules and communicates daily with airport operations to ensure work never disrupts air travel!
