The very first tenet expressed in TMG’s Values Statement is “Safety Matters.” Using this statement as a guiding principle, TMG has developed a corporate-wide program that impresses upon all employees the extreme importance of safely executing work at all times. It has also led to the development of a set of guidelines that govern how we run our jobsites – cognizant not only of the safety of the crews and the general public, but also of the environment.

Safety Awards

TMG’s dedication to Safety and Health is evidenced by our frequent and consistent receipt of industry and project-specific awards for our organization’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment. In 2013, TMG celebrated the milestone of exceeding 1 Million Hours without a lost workday incident. This was on the heels of achieving 1,400 days of incident-free work on a $50 million task order contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers-Baltimore District at Fort Belvoir. TMG was recognized for these unique achievements at a special Safety Day celebration at Fort Belvoir. Today, we are at approximately 1.7 million hours without a lost workday incident.

In 2016, TMG accepted the Associated Builders and Contractors’ STEP Platinum award, the third time we have received this award having earned the STEP Gold in 2011, and the STEP Platinum in 2012. Only 3 percent of the entire ABC membership meets the exacting standards of the Platinum designation. In order to receive the Platinum level award, TMG must have a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of at least 25% below the average, a very low Experience Modification Rate (EMR), zero OSHA citations in the last three years, and high marks on ABC’s 200 Key Safety Components score card.

Other safety awards TMG has received include the Paragon Award for General Contractors over 150,000 man hours, the National Safety Council’s Safety Leadership Award, the Occupational Excellence Award, the 1 Million Safe Work Hours Award, and the Safety Achievement Award. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company recognized TMG for Outstanding Safety Performance, and the Chesapeake Region Safety Council awarded TMG its Platinum Award of Excellence.

In addition, TMG has received more than two dozen safety awards from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), including the coveted Annual Safety Award, which recognizes companies that have worked more than 1,000 hours per month with a Lost Time Frequency Injury Rate of zero, a Recordable Injury Rate of less than 2.5, and have the lowest number of claims.
