TMG Construction Corporation is under a master agreement contract with United Airlines (UAL) to perform miscellaneous general contracting work at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Task order projects are located throughout the Airport, including the terminals and Red Carpet Clubs. TMG has completed dozens of projects with varying scopes of work. TMG teams have renovated office space, built baggage handling operations, renovated UAL’s Red Carpet Clubs, and various other projects to keep the airline’s operations flowing smoothly.
One highly successful project was the installation of new flat-screen monitors that display real-time flight updates. Gate workers no longer need to manually update display boards between flights, and passengers can track up to the minute when their scheduled flights will arrive or depart.
The cutting-edge information system, called Easy Info, is a key component of UAL’s push to expand data delivery via its global enterprise resources planning system. TMG was contracted to install 42 LCD monitors throughout IAD’s Terminal C and D within a four-week time frame. Installed on time and within budget, the Easy Info system automatically bit streams flight information to UAL’s gates.
The installations were designed by Giuliani Associates Architects, Inc. The computer technology was designed and programmed by Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS). Natelco performed all the electronic functions while TMG’s top task order team installed all the hardware and monitors throughout the terminals.
TMG works directly for UAL and must interact with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, their codes enforcement department, fire marshal, various adjacent concessions and end users to ensure turbulence-free completion of each project assigned.
