The Washington Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (Airports Authority) awarded a base-building contract at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to Purcellville, VA-based TMG Construction Corporation. The project is valued at $9.7 million and involves the construction of a new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting facility. It is the first base building contract awarded at DCA in several years.
TMG has worked with the Airports Authority on several Capital Construction Program projects as a task order contractor at DCA and Washington Dulles International Airport. "We’re delighted to be selected for this important project," noted TMG President Tanya Matthews. "It’s a testimony to our company’s focus on customer satisfaction and building lifelong relationships."
DCA’s Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Station (ARFF) 301 will serve the rescue and response needs of the airport facility. The project involves demolition of the existing ARFF facility and the construction of a 23,000 sf one-story building and related site improvements. The new building will be a five-bay, steel-framed facility with corrugated metal siding and a single ply membrane roof system. It is designed to accommodate a 22-person fire-rescue shift and related equipment. Related work includes construction of new building-related utilities, stormwater collection, parking lots and building approaches. The project is expected to take 13 months to complete.
The ARFF station was designed by Sterling, VA-based Hughes Group Architects. TMG Construction will self perform roughly 30% of the work. Key subcontractors include Jett Mechanical, Cavalier Fire Protection Inc. Gull Corporation, ProPave, Ricks and Arlington Ironworks, Plan-It Granite, Art Creations, Platinum Exterior, Arch Hardware Systems, Fredericksburg Glass, Tysons Floors, Delta Painting and Seneca among others.
TMG Construction Corporation is a woman-owned, minority-owned SBA 8(a) small business with three offices in Northern Virginia and more than 55 full-time employees. It provides commercial and institutional construction services for such clients as the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, American University, United Airlines, All Nippon Airways, the County of Loudoun (VA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Postal Service, among others.
