What better way to await a delayed plane than to kick back on a windswept pier with an umbrella drink and a Maryland crab cake? That’s soon to be in store for passengers at Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI).
TMG recently began construction on Bayside Landing, the third seaside-themed restaurant for Frederick, MD-based The Wilner Companies. TMG was the general contractor on both Tidewater Landing restaurants at Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Bayside will be the largest and most elaborate of the trio.
Designed by Giuliani Associates Architects, Inc., Bayside Landing will feature a full-service dining room as well as Bayside Express (a take-out area) and large curved counter bar in a cool palette of blue with light wood millwork and funky pendant lighting.
The curved glass mural store front will set the illusion of dining on a pier at sunset. Inside, a dramatic free-standing cascading wall of water behind the hostess stand, which resembles a pillar of sand, will heighten the anticipation of fresh seafood and summer-time libations. The dining room will feature stunning murals of the Chesapeake Bay to evoke a soothing, laid-back atmosphere.
TMG began demolition of a small pub on Pier C of the airport in mid-June to make space for Bayside Landing. The project team is headed by Project Manager Michelle Stuckey with Taylor Vogel as Superintendent, Chris Green as Lead Carpenter and Craig Harrison as Construction Engineer. Key subcontractors include Moon Electric, JJ Kirlin, Pablo’s Contracting and Art Creations. The entire project is expected to last 105 days.
"We look forward to working with TMG on yet another project," notes client Steve Wilner. So is the TMG team. "We anticipate smooth sailing ahead," says PM Michelle Stuckey.
