TMG Construction Corporation has reached the halfway point in construction of the new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Facility, Station 301, at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Valued at over $10 million, this is the first base-building contract awarded by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) at DCA in several years.
TMG won the coveted contract based on its long track record of excellent performance on MWAA’s large task order contracts at DCA and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). "We’re delighted to be selected for this important project," noted TMG President Tanya Matthews. "It’s a testimony to our company’s focus on customer satisfaction and building lifelong relationships."
Current activities at ARFF include installation of drywall studs in the interior administrative spaces, interior plumbing, VAV boxes, fire alarm piping, security system wiring, and electrical conduit in the ceilings. Recently completed exterior projects include the installation of electrical transformers, trench drains, the oil-sand separator, and a substantial amount of glass. Work has begun on waterproofing, exterior corrugated metal siding, and the single-ply membrane roof system.
To ensure consistent compliance with safety and quality control procedures, TMG holds weekly safety tool box meetings and quality control meetings with all TMG staff and subcontractors on the ARFF project. TMG is proud to announce that the ARFF project was recently awarded MWAA’s quarterly safety award for the fourth quarter of 2007.
When completed, the new ARFF facility will serve the ever-expanding rescue response needs of this vital airport. The 23,000sf one-story building will provide comfortable around-the-clock accommodations for the 22-person fire-rescue teams, and six equipment bays will securely house the ARFF fire trucks and rescue vehicles. Once the personnel and equipment have transitioned to their new home, TMG will be responsible for the safe demolition of the existing ARFF facility.
