The controllers’ responsibility is to provide the External Accounting and Regulatory side of TMG, while providing assistance to the Vice President of Finance. Responsibilities include development, operation and control of the financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. The assistant controller is expected to have a working knowledge of cost-to-cost based accrual accounting principles and at least two years of hands on accounting experience in the construction industry. Able and willing to perform all of the hands on aspects of the position and is capable of progressively delegating and managing the production of accounting information via subordinates and others within the organization, as the organization grows.
- Prepare timely, accurate, monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; including footnotes and company consolidation;
- Evolve, document and maintain an overall system of record keeping, including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Depreciation, and Subsidiary Ledger Reconciliations to accumulate financial transactions made by the company;
- Assist in training staff and internal personnel in financial / management information;
- Prepare and/or directs preparation of timely reporting of governmental regulatory requirements i.e.: tax reporting / deposits; insurance reporting, EEO, Vets 940 / 941 / 5500 BPOL, and licensing;
- Maintain a highly organized custody of official company documents;
- Preparation of schedules for year end audit;
- Evolve TMG’s information and accounting systems to effectively and efficiently manage TMG’s inventory, acquisition and disposal of equipment and other capital assets;
- Prepare capital and operational budgets (with assistance from others);
- Work with company advisors, such as auditors, bankers, insurance and bonding agents and lawyers as needed;
- Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office software, managing information in a networked environment, the use of Star Builder and the ability to mine and report on data using Crystal Reports;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from 4-year College or University or 2 years related experience, or equivalent of education and experience.
- Certified Public Accountant with CPE current.
